Claire Carrier: She'd left a message for Troy semi late though the night before just
saying she needed to talk to him. And for him to call her back when he had a
chance.
Troy Lawrence: So, he'll call back around his lunch break today (unless after his work
day would be better to place for Claire and Gavin purposes)
Claire Carrier: ((Kept it open on the time for Claire and Gavin so that would work very
well.))
Troy Lawrence: Cool. So... *Ring ring around lunch...which would be about noon*
Claire Carrier: She picks up the phone half out of breath and just before it goes into
voice mail. "Hello?"
Troy Lawrence: "Miss Carrier." His voice is warm and polite, if formal as always. "Troy
Lawrence. How are you today?"
Claire Carrier: "Oh, hi Mr. Lawrence. I'm okay...." she is getting her breath back
quickly. "I'm glad you got my message."
Troy Lawrence: "As am I...I was delighted to hear from you. What can I do for you?"
Claire Carrier: "Well, I'm sure you are quite a busy man, but I had hoped to just talk
to you about some family matter and I don't believe the phone is the best place
for that. Could we possibly meet instead?"
Troy Lawrence: "Absolutely. I can clear some time from my schedule today. Where would
you like to meet? The usual meeting ground for such matters, or somewhere more
enclosed and private?"
Claire Carrier: "Please, someplace much more private. Where we can speak more freely
without other ears around."
Troy Lawrence: "Of course. My apartment, if it would not be too inappropriate? Miss
Delacourt is out for the day."
Claire Carrier: "Oh not at all. Maybe another time I could meet her then."
Troy Lawrence: "That would be lovely." He gives directions to his apartment, which is in
downtown, not far from the DA's office where he works. "I can be there in a half
hour."
Claire Carrier: "I think I can be there about then too. Thank you, sir."
Troy Lawrence: "You are most welcome. I'll be waiting outside so you need not be buzzed
in."
Claire Carrier: "That sounds good. Until then....."
Troy Lawrence: "Until then. See you soon." *Click* He speaks to his secretary to
reschedule a few things and then drives his car over to his apartment, parking
before he moves to wait out front. Dressed in a dark brown suit, green tie. All
perfectly fitted, of course.
Claire Carrier: She's been getting moved in and helping with things so with the time she
has, she does her best to get into something clean and nice looking. She has on
a white top with a V cut and with silver design along the top part, designer
jeans and shoes. She arrives in a cab a few minutes after their agreed meeting
time.
Troy Lawrence: He smiles, inclining his head to her in greeting, and extending a hand as
she approaches. "Miss Carrier. You look exquisite, as before."
Claire Carrier: She smiles to him. "Thank you."
Troy Lawrence: "Please...let's enter." He gestures to the door and walks in, with a nod
to the doorman. He lives on the fifth floor of the condo building, and it's a
short, efficient elevator ride up. On the way up, he makes some idle
conversation. "You have been well in the past few days, I trust?"
Claire Carrier: "Yes, actually, I have found roommates. That's what I was doing when you
called. Getting settled in."
Troy Lawrence: "Excellent." He nods slightly as the doors slide soundlessly open, and he
moves out, leading the way to his apartment. Troy's apartment, interestingly, is
very much different from his office. Where as his office in the NY County DA's
office is simple to the point of being spartan, his condo is quite lavishly
furnished--as befitting a Silver Fang Royalist--without being gaudy. Everything
is done in dark greens and browns. Leather couches, a large coffee table,
several bookshelves...topics range from war philosophy to political theory to
many, many law journals. He seems to be quite the fan of Victorian literature,
as well. Everything's perfectly in place, as it is on Troy. A large, golden
statue of an Eagle dominates the top of one bookshelf.
Claire Carrier: She looks around and nods approvingly about what she sees. Once inside
she finally decides to ask, "Is it alright to use your first name? Since we are
in private? Not meaning to be disrespectful."
Troy Lawrence: "That would be quite all right." He shuts the door and moves toward the
kitchen. "May I get you something to drink?"
Claire Carrier: "Do you have any Coca Cola?" she asks, staying in the living room area.
She moves over to some law journals and picks one up, starting to flip through
it.
Troy Lawrence: "I do, in fact." Rum and Coke being his drink of choice, when he does
drink. He heads into the kitchen and gets a Coke, pouring it into a glass and
bringing it out for her. "Now, then...what can I do for you?"
Claire Carrier: She sets the journal down and takes the glass. "Well, I just wasn't sure
what to do. But I have some concerns about someone in the family. "
Troy Lawrence: "Oh?" His brow furrows, and he gestures to the couch before settling
himself down on one end of it. "What is the matter?"
Claire Carrier: She takes a seat, careful of the drink. "Well, I was lied to and found
out something quite disturbing earlier too about that lie. Apparently Mr.
Kazimir has been involved with werebird. And told me quote 'I do not fear
honesty, nor am I ashamed of my involvement with her, from our family's stand
point though ..she and I are not a proper pairing. You and I....' The only
reason he never meant to lead me on was that he just didn't think he'd get
caught. I find it disturbing that he'd have that thought about our family. As a
matter of fact, he went chasing her down, and not me."
Troy Lawrence: He frowns at this, deeply. "A werebird. One of our blood, cavorting
with...a werebird?" The frown depens even further, into a near scowl. "Unheard
of. And he had claimed otherwise to you before?" It certainly seems plausible to
Troy, this being the first he's heard of it.
Claire Carrier: "He made me think that he was indeed single and not involved at all. If
he'd been as honest as he claimed, he had plenty of opportunity to tell me in
private. But did not even. Instead he led me to believe he wished for us to get
better acquainted since after all, we were both single and others of our family
were already seeing that we had...potential. I can't believe he'd fuck a bird."
Did she just say that? She blushes bright red as she realizes her thought was
verbalized. And for her, with her tan, it's definitely quite easy to see.
Troy Lawrence: He blinks at that phrasing, taken aback by it, but he nods. "This must be
seen to, without question, Miss Carrier. Gavriil is no Glass Walker...he's no
damned Child of Gaia. He's a Silver Fang, and more is expected of him."
Claire Carrier: She puts her head down. "I'm sorry.....I'm still in shock over
this......Anyway, I told him that I didn't go for guys who lie to me the way he
did.....Mr. Lawrence, I'm sorry. I need my mouth washed out with soap."
Troy Lawrence: "It's quite all right, Miss Carrier." Propriety helps him wave it off.
"This is...an extreme situation. I understand. I'm rather in shock as well...I
know of the decadence pervading this city, but I hadn't expected one of our
blood to fall prey to it."
Claire Carrier: "I've already spoken earlier to the Grand Elder which is how I learned
about what she was," she sighs. "I honestly thought there was something wrong
with me at first until he assured me it wasn't me. I felt that since you are a
fullblood that this was something that should be brought to your attention as
well."
Troy Lawrence: "It is much appreciated, Miss Carrier." He nods to her, with a smile.
"Believe me when I say...not all of our lineage have fallen to such poor means."
Claire Carrier: She smiles a little more again. "Would that mean here in the city? Or
just in general?"
Troy Lawrence: "Both, I would say, without doubt."
Claire Carrier: "I had thought maybe things would be better here where I'd have more
exposure around my family.....I'm glad however, that most of my experiences have
been positive so far. I know, don't let one bad apple...."
Troy Lawrence: "No, please do not." He shakes his head. "I have been less then pleased,
to be perfectly frank, with Mister Kazimir to date anyway, as you may have
previously noticed. This does not help matters in his favor."
Claire Carrier: "I can see why if he behaves like a....." she just leaves the word
hanging. "I thank you though for listening to me on this matter. And feeling it
was important to discuss."
Troy Lawrence: "Of course, Miss Carrier. You were right to bring it to me. I will
discuss with Gavin-rhya, and we will see what should be done."
Claire Carrier: "Thank you, sir. On another matter.....though I'm just trying to think
ahead and researching.....are there any good law schools or legal aide type
schools here that are not that expensive to go to?"
Troy Lawrence: "As a matter of fact, yes." He smiles a little bit, nodding. "The New
York University School of Law is one of the top five law schools in the United
States...it is expensive, but well worthwhile. I am sure there are arrangements
that could be made toward scholarships. There is also, a bit less costly, New
York Law School close by to here. It leans more toward financial lawyers then
anything else, but it is also quite good."
Claire Carrier: "I'd probably like to work with family law....divorce, custody, support
and mediation. It's just something I've come to know very well.....I technically
am not eligible right now though for scholarships. I'd have to wait about a year
I think....."
Troy Lawrence: He nods to that. "If you are truly serious about this line of work, Miss
Carrier...I would be more then willing to see if there would be something I
could find for you within the New York County District Attourney's offices. To
give you some practical experience, and help your financial situation, at least
a little bit, as you move toward schooling."
Claire Carrier: "I think it's something I would be good at. Maybe help me with my
mistrust of attorneys," she smiles and considers longer. "Yes," she nods while
taking a long sip of the Coke," I think I seriously would be interested,
especially somewhere that would have me involved with family law."
Troy Lawrence: He nods and smiles. "I will see what I can do, then."
Claire Carrier: She smiles more. "Thank you Troy. Of course I understand it might not be
easy, so whatever you can do would be very much appreciated."
Troy Lawrence: "You are quite welcome." He nods once more. "Give me a week or so, and I
will see what openings I can find."
Claire Carrier: She sips again from the glass. "Wonderful. Definitely a good family
here.....except for the black sheep....." she smirks playfully.
Troy Lawrence: He manages a faint smile at that, and nods. "Very good family, yes.
Everyone I have met here, with the exception of our black sheep, has been
entirely pleasant and a joy to work with and associate with. Present company
included."
Claire Carrier: She smiles more. "Thank you. And I believe the family I'm staying with
are very good family too. I probably should let you get back to your
work......and please....I would love to meet your fiancee sometime too. Give her
my best even though she doesn't really know me."
Troy Lawrence: "I will certainly do so," he says with a nod, rising from his seat and
offering her a hand to help her rise. "I hope you will have the opportunity to
meet her soon."
Claire Carrier: She takes his hand and stands up carefully with the glass in her other
hand. "I'm still keeping my cell number so you can reach me that way."
Troy Lawrence: He nods. "Excellent." He reaches out and takes the glass from her. "I
will do so when I learn more about what is available."
Claire Carrier: "Thank you," she hands him the glass back. "I'm sure we'll talk or see
each other again soon. Until then...." she smiles as she starts to make her way
toward the door.
Troy Lawrence: "Until then...be safe. Gaia's Grace be with you, Miss Carrier, and may
Luna light your way to safety in these dangerous times." He moves with her to
the door, to escort her out.
Claire Carrier: "Good day." And she'll call for a cab and wait in the lobby until it
arrives. ((Thank you very much for the scene :) ))
