General Satu: So the General is gracious and a servant offers her some type of beverage during their meeting then leaves

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She's quite impressed by the suite. "I like what you've done with the place." She takes a seat, declining the beverage. "Thank you for meeting with me. I won't take up much of your time."

General Satu:
He nods, smiling to her, tho there is something reserved behind his eyes. "What business do you have to discuss?"

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She reigns in her usual attitude, keeping it down to a mild roar of casualness. "I was wondering if you could tell me what stance the Courts are taking on One Who Watches and recent events."

General Satu:
He frowns at that, looking down at the polished teak surface of the table. "The One Who Watches gave me his word he would not attempt to escape. He has shamed himself, and proven his untrustworthiness in the eyes of the Court."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She purses her lips a little, and nods. "Was he aware of the length of the sentance when he gave his word?"

General Satu:
"I do not believe so. But he agreed to suffer whatever punishment was meted out to him, in front of the Court and the spirits."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She nods. "I understand what you're saying, and don't think I'm trying to call you or the Courts wrong, or challenge the punishment. This is just how I see it...it's my opinion, nothing more. But a man can agree to hold a boulder as penance, believing he will be able to hold it for a fair length of time. But when what most would consider a fair length of time has passed, and still he must hold the boulder, then his arms have no choice to give out, and he must drop it or die of the exertion."

General Satu:
He nods, still looking at his hand as he traces the grain in the wood. "I agree."

General Satu:
"But the fact remains, he has dishonored himself, and he is unfit for the role of Zi Teng, and to control the Diamond Throne."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She sighs a little, but nods. She knows she's preaching to the choir here. "So what does that mean now? What'll happen?"

General Satu:
"If he is caught, he will be punished again. Those whose ears he held, and who would have been won over by his...inscrutable endurance, have lost confidence in him."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She can't help but let her anger at the situation bleed through into her face, a tiny bit. "General...my people don't deal in honor as a general rule. We pefer humility and a good sense of humor to honor. But we recognize it when we see it. And I don't see it in this situation. They could no more have asked him to stand up after a gunshot wound to the head then asked he face his greatest fear for 20 staright days. He was set up to fail."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
"And I know I can't change this situation here. But I see this as a political move that runs contrary to harmoniousness, which is what we as a sentati are dedicated to. I'm sorry you are the one who gets to hear my opinions, and they are just my opinions, but..." She sighs.

General Satu:
"Yes," he agrees. "And if he were Zi Teng, he'd have found a way to succeed anyway."

General Satu:
"The spirits would have aided him, and he would have...found a way to succeed."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
"Okay, so he's not Zi Teng. Fair enough. But since when does not being the top of the food chain mean you have to be punished again for aspiring toward it?" She purses her lips. "Isn't there any way to fix this, somehow? The man has been through enough."

General Satu:
"How would you propose to fix it?"

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She shakes her head. "I...don't know right now. I'm trying to figure it out. I hoped someone with more familiarity with the politics of the Courts might have some advice.

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She shrugs. "Forgive me if I'm overstepping my bounds there. I've just never been one to ignore potential resources, if I can help it."

General Satu:
"It is a...sticky business, treading both sides of a very thin line."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She nods. "That it is...especially when there's no net." She pauses, and looks at him. "Very easy to get caught in the webs cast about."

General Satu:
He nods. "It is difficult, also, to see who to trust when it's not clear who may still have the algorithm singing through them."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She nods. "True." She considers. "That should probably be dealt with." She smiles a little to the man, nodding. "Thank you, General."

General Satu:
He nods. "give my regards to my neice."

Reyna Varinia Reiruno:
She nods, smiling. "I certainly will." She stands up and bows a little...nowhere near what a formal bow should be, but she made the effort, at least.

General Satu:
He returns a slight bow of his head and she is escorted out of the office suite.
