Elijah Phillips: Eli shows struts toward the front of
the club, sporting a tailor fit cream suit, emerald tie that.. coincidentally
enough is the exact color of the boy's eyes. He gladly flips out the cover and
before doing anything business related.. makes a beeline for the bar.
Jody Yu: Three hours later, she's just
finished up looking over all the business paperwork for the day. She's got it
set aside, and is relaxing in the VIP booth, in her elegant little black
one-piece dress.
Elijah Phillips: Eli slips over and orders a
mid day martini. While waiting for the thing to arrive, he flips out his cell
phone to call Jody.
Jody Yu: The ringing can be heard from the
bar. She looks at the caller ID for a moment, before opening it and putting it
to her ear. "Good evening."
Jody Yu: ((gaah. evening=afternoon))
Elijah Phillips: Eli turns with a tiny
giggle, hearing the ring. He picks up his martini and moves that way, speaking
into the cell phone "Well.. I was calling to tell you I was here.. But now that
I see how close you are, I feel right silly." He hands up the cell and slips it
into his pocket.
Jody Yu: She looks around, spotting him
quickly and offering a small, polite smile. She closes her cell phone and sets
it back on the table for a moment, rising to meet him. "Mr. Phillips. A
pleasure, as always." She gives him her little nod into a bow. "How are you?"
Elijah Phillips: Eli gives a sad laugh
"I've.. been better." He raeches up to scratch the back of his head "But
reguardless of how things have been going.. I wwanted to finally come by and
straighten things out with you. I'm.. sorry it took so long." He blinks down to
the table, seeming even more distracted than usual.
Jody Yu: "I'm sorry things are not well for
you," she says with complete sincerity. "And do not apologize for the delay.
Perhaps we can move to my office, for a tad more privacy?"
Elijah Phillips: He nods, extending a hand
to Jody in a gentlemanly gesture "That would be lovely."
Jody Yu: She takes the offered hand with a
courteous smile, and moves to head toward the backstage area, and her office.
Elijah Phillips: Follows along.
Jody Yu: They are unaccosted on the way
back...Security leaves them alone. She opens the door to the office she and
Melody shares and heads in, gesturing to a seat. "If you would..." For her part,
she moves around the desk, taking a seat on the other side, her perfect posture
in place, and folds her hands demurely on the desk. "I have, of course, spoken
with the Deacon of Mr. Kennedy's Chantry, and informed him of the unfortunate
incident. There has yet to be a request for action under the Treaty, and I do
not believe one to be coming, as the Deacon in question seemed to understand
that it was not a violation in the proper sense of the word. He has requested to
be able to view the scene, so he may investigate as I have, for his own
edification. I told him I would consult with you."
Elijah Phillips: Eli takes a seat, folding
one girlish leg over the other "I.. wouldn't see that as a problem. It could
make tansy a bit squeemish. She's been worried about the willworkers scrying us.
Or our house.. or something." Eli scratches the back of his head "Before
Travis.. died.. He spoke of an iminent threat. He was warning tansy and I that
the willworkers arne't looking kindly to our involvement.. or our children." He
squints "I have no plans to break the treaty.. and i don't have any particular
dislike of the willworkers.. But what can I do to protect my family?"
Jody Yu: She listens, quiet, sympathy showing
in her eyes. "I understand your predicament, Mr. Phillips...honestly. If you
like, I can accompany him to your residence, and ensure that he does not scry
anywhere or any time that does not relate directly to what occured. I believe
this Deacon to be an honorable man, and while I will not doubt that he is not
fond of Fallen, since as you may have been informed by Tansy or Mr. Kennedy,
consortion with creatures typically known as Demons is something that
is...forbidden, to say the least. He will not, I do not believe, violate the
Treaty in any way." She frowns, considering something for a long moment...as if
having an internal debate.
Elijah Phillips: Eli gives a tiny nod "I
know.. I've been told." He gives a tiny huff "I've no qualms with what I am. I
know that I carry the potential for.. tremendous evil." He gives a pained look
down to the carpet. "But.. I can control it. If something was to happen to
tansy.. if the willworkers made a move in that direction.. I don't think I could
continue to possess such control. All HELL would break loose.. Pardon my
wording.. There would be an all out war."
Jody Yu: "I am aware." She nods. "Which is
something I mean to prevent." She watches him. "I do have some good news for
you, however. As I...understand it from an examination of Mr. Kennedy's mind, he
had not informed anyone of you're children's potential for...special abilities."
Elijah Phillips: Eli darts his gaze to
his martini, tensing at the subject. "I.. don't know why they would be any
different from normal children. I think Travis was mistaken."
Jody Yu: "The situation is not my concern,
Mr. Phillips," she says calmly. "I do not believe your children to be a danger.
It appears, to my knowledge, that the only person who considered them to be
so...has moved along the Great Wheel to his next incarnation."
Elijah Phillips: Eli blinks looking at his
drink "I'm sorry." After a long pause, he looks back up to Jody "I'd like it if
you accompanied whoever it is so that they can do what they need to do. I just
want to get this all done and over with.. so we can put it all behind us."
Jody Yu: She nods a bit. "Of course, Mr.
Phillips." She pauses a moment, considering something. "Mr. Phillips, if I may
be so bold as to ask...your recollection of the night's events was
not...entirely accurate. I apologize for the potential implication here, and I
realize that things happened fairly quickly that night...but you must realize
that I would be amiss if I did not at least ask once if you reported things in
such a way as to protect your family."
Elijah Phillips: Eli looks down to his
martini "I reported things as how I remembered them.. If they were muddled.. I
apologize. It wasn't my intention. Everything went by so fast.. and then he
was.." He squints.
Jody Yu:
d10: Per+Subterfuge: 6,5,3,8,6,
Elijah Phillips:
d10: Man+Sub (diff): 9,5,1,2,2,
Jody Yu: She watches him for a long moment, a
gentle frown forming on her face. She obviously does not believe that he
reported things as he remembered, but she simply says, "I see. And you are sure
of this, then." Always polite, this one is. Even when calling someone out on
their bullshit.
Elijah Phillips: Eli reaches up to rub his
face with his hand, tired "I shouldn't have come this early.. I've got too much
shit on my mind to even think straight.. I'd tell you.. but it's none of your
concern." He gives a tiny sigh "I don't know.. to be honest I can't even
remember how I reported it.. I just.. I don't know. The two of you can see what
happened with your little hand wavey thingy.. So why does it even matter? If I
were hiding something.. I wouldn't let willworkers trapse through my house
casting spells.. I wouldn't have called you in the first place.."
Elijah Phillips: (he's trying to be
charismatic and smooth over the fact that he lied. what would be the roll on
that?)
Jody Yu: "It matters, Mr. Phillips, in only
one way to me." She remains calm, serene. "I am not a talented liar. I have
never been especially talented at seeing through lies, comparitively. However, I
have seen through this. My only concern is that others may, as well. And I would
not see the unfortunate death of a young man, particularly one who was
Ostracized from his own Tradition for a short time, and who acted in a way that
was--while not a treaty Violation--quite subversive toward members of the
Neutral Party, if my predecessor's notes are correct, cause further harm, to you
and Tansy, or to the Treaty itself." She sighs a little. "Travis Kennedy is
dead. That cannot be changed. I aim to make sure, however, that he is the only
casualty."
Jody Yu: ((None necessary. Jody's not
offended, or worried about what the lie was. She does know the truth of what
happened. She is only concerned about the above. *G*))
Elijah Phillips: Eli frowns and gives a tiny
nod "I'm not a liar.. I'm just.." He sighs and grips the arms of his chair,
about to stand "I need a bath. Is there anything else, love?"
Jody Yu: She shakes her head. "No, I do not
believe so." She smiles, sympathetically. "I will contact you when I am ready to
accompany the good Deacon to your home, if that is acceptable to you? I
understand, of course, if you require some time." She starts to rise from her
chair.
Elijah Phillips: He stands and gives a half
smile "It might be best to put it off.. until we find our other roommate. Angel?
Did you meet her?" He shakes his head "She's been taken.. I'm afraid having
magic strewn about the house wouldn't help in the slightest. I'm already..
aparently.. a target for someone."
Jody Yu: She purses her lips. "I'm sorry to
hear that, Mr. Phillips. Rest assured, if you find or suspect it is a treaty
violation, we will be more then happy to assist you in locating your roommate."
She moves around the desk, offering Eli her hand. "In any event, I can delay the
visit...that is not a problem."
Elijah Phillips: He shakes his head, downing
the rest of the martini "It was a fiend. There was no violation.." He gives a
pained look to Jody. Not really understanding why helping should depend on such
a silly thing as a treaty violation.. I mean.. if she COULD help.. He shakes his
head after a long thouhgful moment and wraps a dainty hand around the knob of
the door "Thank you Jody."
Jody Yu: "Of course, Mr. Phillips." She nods
to him, lowering her hand without indication that she's remotely offended the
hand was ignored. The man has much on his mind. "Say hello to Tansy for me, if
you would. And I sincerely hope your situation improves."
Elijah Phillips: "I'll tell her." He slips
out of the office and closes the door behind him.
Jody Yu: She sighs, sadly, and slumps against the desk, looking a little weary. Much accomplished this week...but even this one thing she cannot do weighs heavily on her. She shakes her head and moves to the side door, stepping through it, to the bedroom. The woman needs meditation.
Elijah Phillips: Eli makes a slow dreary
pace out of the club ((thanks rav!))
Jody Yu: ((You bet. *S*))
