Douglas Coburn: He heads to the room and knocks lightly on the door.

Genevieve Teal: She's pacing back and forth in the hotel room, staying clear of the windows, waiting for him to show. At the knock, she moves to the door, looking through the peephole and confirming it's him before she opens the door for him.

Douglas Coburn: He nods, slipping inside, moving away from the door so that she can latch it. "Are you all right?"

Genevieve Teal: She shuts the door and locks it, nodding with a sigh. "Yeah, I'm okay. You?"

Douglas Coburn: He nods softly. "Fine. Ah..." He looks somewhat embarassed, turning away from her a moment. "Ah got you somethin'."

Genevieve Teal: She blinks in surprise. "You...got me something?"

Douglas Coburn: He clears his throat. "Ah thought it would interest you." He's a terrible liar sometimes. He reaches into his jacket and tugs out a small jewelry box, hesitating, then turning and offering it to her, looking somewhere around her knees as he thrusts it toward her.

Genevieve Teal: She looks at Douglas, smiling a little, and then looks back to the box. "Thank you." She reaches out, gently taking it from him, and opens it up.

Douglas Coburn: It contains a delicate gold chain, from which hangs a cartouche, inside which is written a blessing, appeasement to Hathor to watch over the wearer.

Genevieve Teal: She looks at it, wide-eyed, taking a slow breath. "I...thank you, Douglas." She looks up at him, face flushing. "Thank you very much. It's amazing."

Douglas Coburn: He mumbles something, then moves to the window, brushing a curtain aside and glancing out momentarily.

Genevieve Teal: She tilts her head to him, curiously. "Hmmm?"

Douglas Coburn: He lets the curtain fall closed once more. Doesn't turn to face her. "You say Dawit outpaced you?"

Genevieve Teal: "Yeah." She nods a little bit. "He was out of there. I barely got out of the alley before the car blocked it, he was way, way ahead of me."

Douglas Coburn: He nods slightly. "I guess we won't see him again." He purses his lips.

Genevieve Teal: She frowns. "Douglas...what's going on? All I know is, I was divining on Xu, and learned that he was in danger from...royalty, of some kind. And now..." She shrugs, helplessly.

Douglas Coburn: He glances to her sharply. "Is that why you came back?"

Genevieve Teal: "Well...that's was the straw that broke the camel's back, yeah." She sighs. "Also...I couldn't stay up there anymore. I was going insane, isolated...just me and Hebeny. I needed...to see you guys again."
